Open Pores

Why do Open Pores Occur ?

Pores on the face are the surface opening of hair follicles. For all humans, the face has more hair than the scalp ! Yes it does. They are fine and thin hairs and so aren’t evident.

These openings get dilated with ageing or when repeated inflammation occurs – that is when the skin in the face is repeatedly affected by acne, sun damage, increased oil secretion etc,. all of which are not severe enough to result in scarring but leads to minimal damage that enlarges or widens the opening of hair follicles.

Microscopically, open pores and scars result from the changes in the structure of collagen in the skin layers (dermis).

Can Open Pores be treated?

Pores can be, to an extent, treated with creams that modify collagen regeneration.

  • Exfoliating agents
  • Chemical peeling
  • MNRF laser & Resurfacing lasers such as the Co2, help fasten the results.

At Reflect Skin & Hair Clinic, we combine treatments that will help with the collagen remodelling, so that the results obtained are permanent. The treatments are accompanied by pre and post care by the patient at home. Each procedure will have a different outcome and downtime. Often procedures are combined depending on the need of the patient to achieve the results.
